Yes, ball pythons do eat birds when they are given the opportunity to do so, they primarily eat rodents such as mice and rats, but if they are hungry enough and have the opportunity to eat a bird, they will do so. Usually they are sick, or injured birds because they can't really catch regular birds as they are too fast and can fly away. (Source)
