Leopard geckos do not know how to swim in water, so It's best not to leave them in deep water. You can give them baths, but don't leave them in downable water unsupervised.

No, Leopard geckos can't swim in water, they are from the desert where they aren't naturally exposed to a whole lot of water. They shouldn't be put into water at all when you are keeping them in captivity.
