Both wouldn't be good pets due to how deadly they are, the crocodile monitor reaches a size that is much larger than a Komodo dragon, the Komodo dragon is also highly venomous and if you are bitten by one you should immediately seek medical attention, the bite can cause paralysis and extreme pain. A crocodile monitor is venomous but not lethal like Komodo dragons. (Source)

In terms of keeping one as a pet, I'd say a crocodile would be better especially since they're not as lethal as a Komodo Dragon. A crocodile will eventually grow to be extremely large, so in the long run it probably wouldn't be a good pet for most people. Both are pretty much illegal to own unless you have certain licenses to have them.

A Komodo dragon if it bites you won't feel good, they've got some potent venom that's potentially lethal. A crocodile doesn't have venom but their bite strength is super high to the point where it'll most likely cause you some substantial pain.

I would say the winner would be the Crocodile. It's because the Crocodile has great hard skin so it would resist the Komodo's venom and bite force and as strength power, the Crocodile got more strength. And for speed, I would say Komodo takes it because I saw a Komodo moving as fast as a Horse in real life.
