No, alligators don't always make good pets, they grow rapidly (1 foot per year), they have 2000 pounds of force once they reach a length of 15-20 feet long and when they bite you they can go into this death roll, sort of like what iguanas do. They need a huge amount of space and need to be fed a ton.
