Yes, crested geckos can choke on food, if they ingest an insect that is too big it could get lodged in their throat and they won't be able to eat swallow it, normally they'll try and spit it out, but if they can't then they could potentially die. Because of this it's best to feed crested geckos insects that are no bigger than the size of the cap between their eyes. 

This ensures that they are small enough for them to eat. Hope this clarifies some things. (Source)
