There are a number of different reasons for why your crested gecko is staying on the ground, the reasons include: humidity, substrate, shedding, security and nothing else to hide in. Most times when a crested gecko is staying on the ground there's really nothing to worry about as this is a normal behavior. If it becomes excessive, this could be an indicator of too low humidity.
