Yes, tarantulas can be venomous to cats, poisonous isn't the right word because tarantulas are only capable of injecting venom into their prey. The biggest threat to cats from tarantulas are their hairs that they flick into the air, their hairs can easily get stuck into a cat and sometimes in some pretty bad locations like their eyes. 

The most ideal situation is to not have any tarantulas near your cats. Hope this helps 😄
