Yes, the vast majority of tarantulas are docile, they won't bite unless they feel stressed out or threatened, most tarantulas are slow moving creatures that have bites that are similar to bee stings. They can also flick urticating hairs off their bodies at potential predators, these are quite annoying, but not too bad as long as you don't get it in your eye or anything like that. (Source)
