If your pet rat bites you, the best action to take would be to wash the bite mark off with warm water and soap for at least 1-2 minutes, rats can carry some gross diseases that aren't fun for anyone to have. Afterwards, you should make sure that you cover the bite mark with a band aid if you need one.

It's important to see a doctor if you develop any sickness symptoms like a fever, chills, sore throat etc. These can all be symptoms for the rat bite fever. You should also document when the rat bite happened just in case you do develop RBF. (Source)
