Crested geckos will chirp when they feel threatened or stressed out, they will also chirp during mating season, a female crested gecko will chirp to tell another male crested gecko to leave them alone and that she doesn't want to mate with them. Most of the noises you'll hear from crested geckos will be at night because that's when they're the most active, they're nocturnal. (Source)
