Tadpoles will eat their way out of their eggs, then they'll go out and eat various pond weeds that they can find, if you're keeping tadpoles in captivity you can feed them spinach and fresh lettuce, this will help them develop going forward. It's important to rinse the vegetables first though before you feed them to your tadpoles because they can contain harmful additives/preservatives that are better left off. (Source)
