No, hamsters can't see color, they are colorblind, according to Wikipedia. They are extremely nearsighted and don't have a good sense of where everything is around them, their distance perception is not very good.

They make up for poor eyesight with their sense of smell and scents. They leave their scents on things around them to know that they've been there before, they can also smell your scent, that's how they know whether you are their owner or not.
