You should change your hamster bedding at least once a week to ensure that it doesn't start smelling and that your hamster remains healthy. This is for the betterment of your hamster and yourself, a smelly hamster is not fun for anyone. Hamster poop builds up overtime unfortunately, best to put in the work and remove it.
