The cons of owning a reptile are that they require specialized care and in many cases a specialized diet that includes live feeding. This really isn't as bad as it sounds, but some people really have a problem with the live feeding part. The live feeding usually includes live insects or rodents if you own a snake, however at least with a snake you can feed them thawed out frozen rodents.

These are the two biggest cons that I see and hear about. It's the specialized care and specialized diet.
