Yes, chinchillas can get wet tail, a wet tail is an indication that your chinchilla has diarrhea, staining near the bum hole of your chinchilla is a bad sign as this could mean your chinchilla has a serious issue. Wet tail in chinchillas can stem from stress, overcrowding, long shipping, diet change, various diseases or internal injuries. If you believe your chinchilla has wet tail, you can take him/her to a veterinarian that specializes in exotic mammal care.
