Yes, neon tetra disease can affect bettas, they are just as prone to it as neon tetras are actually, eating the dead body parts of infected neon tetras and swimming in the same water as infected neon tetras is enough to transmit the neon tetra disease to bettas. The spores of neon tetra disease can live in the water for a long time as well. Best to prevent it from happening in the first place by keeping the tank clean and sanitary along with avoiding the purchase of any sick fish.
